» Recall due to a potential accelerator pedal issue

The recall is a direct response to the possibility that the accelerator pedal mechanisms may, in extremely rare instances, become worn. This progressive wear when combined with certain operating and environmental conditions, can cause friction in the mechanism to increase and intermittently result in the accelerator pedal being harder to depress, slow to return or stick in a partially open position.

Toyota and Cogans’ primary concern has been, and continues to be, the safety and peace of mind of our customers. Toyota’s engineers have developed, and rigorously tested a solution to this potential problem.  While the possibility of a defective accelerator pedal in any vehicle is extremely remote, Toyota will recall all vehicles that may be affected by this issue

The following models are involved in the recall

Model Production Period
Aygo Feb 05 – Aug 09
iQ Nov 08 – Nov 09
Yaris Nov 05 – Sep 09
Auris Oct 06 – Jan 10 Excluding all Petrol 1.4 Auris
Corolla Oct 06 – Dec 09 Excluding all Petrol 1.4 Corolla
Verso Feb 09 – Jan 10
Avensis Nov 08 – Dec 09

Please note that all pre 2005 registered Toyota vehicles are not affected by the recall.

As of March 1st, Toyota Ireland have written to all customers affected by the accelerator recall.

Once you receive this letter, please contact us to schedule an appointment to carry out the modification.  It is anticipated that each repair will take approximately 20 minutes.

If you have not received a letter and would like us to check that your vehicle is not affected, please email us at service@cogans.ie with your registration details or call us on 021 4852500.
